Overview

Longwood University, located in Farmville, Virginia, is among the oldest institutions in the US. This 4-year public university was founded in 1839 and was originally known as the Farmville Female Seminary Association. It became a university in the year 2002. The campus covers over 60 acres and the university enrolls more than 4,000 students every year. The students are offered more than 100 major and minor programs in the university, including business, education and psychology.

The university houses four national sororities - Kappa Delta, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. There is also a secret society called CHI, named after the Greek letter X. Students of Longwood University participate in sports like cross country, golf and basketball.
