Overview
Louisburg College traces its roots to the Franklin Male Academy founded in 1805, and the Louisburg Female Academy chartered on December 27, 1814. The women's institute was renamed Louisburg Female College in 1857, and this became Louisburg College in the early 1900s. Franklin Male Academy's assets were taken over by Louisburg College in 1961. Louisburg College, which presently occupies 75 acres in Louisburg, North Carolina, awards a number of associate's degrees in religion, health and physical education, science, arts, humanities, and education.
Louisburg College has an active Student Government Association. Students participate in a variety of on-campus clubs and organizations including the Chorale and Ensemble, the Iron Man Club, the Campus Activities Board, Student Ambassadors, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Christian Life Council. The college also hosts Greek societies like the Phi Theta Kappa, and Phi Beta Lambda.
