Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College, also known as LSU, is a public, coeducational university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The sports teams of LSU are nicknamed the Tigers. LSU is a member of the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Notable LSU alumni include Hubert Humphrey, 38th Vice President of the United States; Shaquille O'Neal, twice named as a first team Men's Basketball All-American and twice SEC Player of the Year; JaMarcus Russell, Oakland Raiders Quarterback number 1 draft pick of 2006; James Carville, senior political advisor to Bill Clinton and political commentator; Randy Moffett, president of the University of Louisian System; Academy Award-winning actor Joanne Woodward; and Walter Williams, NASA pioneer/founder, who established the organization's Dryden Flight Research Center.
