Overview

Loyola University Chicago was founded on June 30, 1870, as St. Ignatius College by the Society of Jesus. In 1909, it became Loyola University Chicago. The university campus encompasses more than 40 acres in Rogers Park, Chicago, Illinois. In addition, the university has another campus in Rome, Italy. Presently, the university has more than 15,000 students and is the largest Jesuit University in the country. Loyola University Chicago offers a number of academic programs and is organized into various academic units including:

Loyola University Chicago has several on-campus Greek Letter Organizations which are governed by the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council. Some of these fraternities and sororities are Sigma Pi, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Alpha Chi Omega, Phi Sigma Sigma, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. In addition, the university has many National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations and Multicultural Greek Councils.
