Macomb Community College

Macomb Community College was founded in 1954 as the South Macomb Community College and was an extension of the traditional K-12 system. The college was opened on September 16, 1954. At that time, the college had 84 students and was popularly known as Macomb County Community College or MCCC. In 1981, the Board of Trustees of the college decided to shorten its name to Macomb Community College.

Macomb Community College has around 200 degree and certificate programs. Some of the academic departments of the college are applied technology and apprenticeships, health information technology, restaurant management, and nuclear medicine technology. The college also offers scholarships programs such as the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, Sylvia Marciniak Memorial Scholarship, and Ernie Romine Memorial Scholarship.

The athletic teams of the college are popularly known as the Monarchs. Macomb Community College men’s sports include baseball, soccer, golf, basketball, and cross-country. The women’s sports include golf, softball, volleyball, cross-country, and basketball.
