Maine College of Art, located in Portland, Maine, was established in 1882 as a part of the Portland Society of Arts. The college changed its name to Portland School of Art in 1972. Commonly referred to as MECA, the college has been known by its current name since 1992. MECA is a four-year, private college offering programs in the arts field.
MECA offers programs leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees in areas such as liberal arts, art history, graphic design, painting, photography and sculpture. The college also offers post baccalaureate, pre college and continuing education programs for its students.
MECA offers financial aid to deserving candidate in the form of federal, state and institutional scholarship programs.
