Marian College

The Sisters of St. Francis Oldenburg established Saint Francis Normal School in 1851 as a normal school for females. Saint Francis Normal School merged with Immaculate Conception Junior College in 1936. The new institution was named Marian College after the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus. Marian College moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1937 and began admitting men in 1954.

At present, Marian College offers education through the following nine departments:

Marian College is located near the Major Taylor Velodrome which helped the institute develop an excellent cycling team. This team is a member of the National Collegiate Cycling Association, NCCA. Marian College has 16 more National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics teams for both men and women.

Marian Athletics

School sports include football (Mid-States Football Association), basketball (Mid-Central College Conference), baseball (Mid-Central College Conference), and track (Mid-Central College Conference).
