Overview

Mary Baldwin College, also referred to as MBC, is located in Staunton, Virginia, United States. It was established in 1842 as the Augusta Female Seminary. The college was founded by Rufus William Bailey, a minister and teacher from Maine. In 1916 it was renamed Mary Baldwin Junior College, and in 1923 the college settled on its current name. The college campus covers more than 50 acres in Staunton. MBC also has satellite campuses located in South Boston, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Weyers Cave, and Richmond.

MBC students can join a number of clubs and organizations including the American College of Health Care Executives, Black Student Alliance, American Chemical Society, Campus Crusade, African Student Kollective, Caribbean Student Association, International Club, Psychology Club, and Student Fine Arts Association.

MBC competes in various sports such as basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, cross country, and volleyball. Their sports teams are known as the Squirrels.
