Overview
Maryland Institute College of Art, also known as MICA, is located in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It was established in the year 1826 and is the oldest, degree-granting, fully accredited art college in the country. MICA offers an array of degrees and certificate programs in different areas of art studies including environmental design, photography, community arts, painting, and illustration.
MICA houses a variety of student clubs and organizations including Animation Club, Black Student Union, Haunted House Club, Dungeons and Dragons Club, National Arts Educators Association, and Sequential Arts and Graphic Narrative Club. Notable alumni of MICA include Wright Butler, architect; Hans Schuler, sculptor; Carlos Florez, director; Ellen Lupton, graphic designer; and Jen Stark, paper sculptor and animator.
