Maryville College

Maryville College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in Maryville, Tennessee. Presbyterian minister Isaac L. Anderson established it as the Southern and Western Theological Seminary in 1819. Maryville is one of the fifty oldest colleges in the nation. The college offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study.

Maryville College has an active student life. The campus is home to a wide variety of student clubs and organizations, including the American Chemical Society, the Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Beta Beta Beta Biology Club, the Black Student Association, Badminton Club and Biology Club. Maryville has many notable alumni, including George Verwer, Evangelist and founder of Operation Mobilisation; Roy Arthur Taylor, U.S. Representative from North Carolina; and Edwin J. Best, Local historian and author of' A Place Called Greenback.
