Overview

Massachusetts College of Art or Massachusetts College of Art and Design, also known as MassArt, is located in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was founded in 1873 and was the first art college in the United States to grand degrees. MassArt was formerly referred to as the Massachusetts Normal Art School. Students are offered degrees through the college's academic departments which are art education, art history, communication design, environmental design, fine arts 2D, Fine arts 3D, liberal arts, media and performing arts, and studio foundation.

MassArt has a number of student clubs and organizations including the International Students Organization, Clay for Change, Keep a Child Alive, Black Artists’ Union, and MassArt Movie Organization. The men and women of MassArt participate in sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, and flag football.
