Meharry Medical College

Meharry Medical College, also referred to as Meharry, is a private historically black college in Nashville, Tennessee that was founded as the Medical Department of Central Tennessee College in 1876. Meharry includes a dental school, a medical school, an allied health school, and a graduate school. The college offers Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Science in Public Health (M.S.P.H.), Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.), Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.

The students of Meharry Medical College are active members of various organization groups such as Meharry - Vanderbilt Student Alliance, Physicians for Human Rights, American Association of Women Dentists, American Medical Student Association, and Ewell Neil Dental Research Society.

Dr. Willie Adams, Jr., Mayor of Albany, Georgia; Dr. Edward S. Cooper, President of the American Heart Association; and Dr. John E. Maupin, President of Morehouse School of Medicine are some of the notable alumni of Meharry Medical College.
