Middle Tennessee State University

Middle Tennessee State University, or MTSU, was founded on September 11, 1911. It is an American university located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It was originally known as Middle Tennessee Normal School and gained the status of university in 1965.

Earlie, MTSU was known only for its Education and Nursing programs; but now, it is famous for various programs such as Aerospace, Business, Mass Communication/Recording Industry, and Music. The campus covers over 450 acres. MTSU is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • Jennings A. Jones College of Business
  • University Honors College

MTSU has an active Greek life and many students participate in several fraternities and sorority communities at the campus. Some of them are independent, while others are governed by National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), and National Panhellenic Council (NPC).

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Sun Belt Conference for major sports.
