Midwestern University, MWU, was established in 1900 as a private, graduate college of medicine. It has two campuses – the one in Downers Grove, Illinois, is known as Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (MWU/CCOM). The other, Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (MWU/AzCOM) is located in Glendale, Arizona. The Glendale campus, which is the larger of the two, covers 140 acres. This medical school has more than 1400 students.
The University offers programs of study in medicine. Degrees awarded include, Physician’s Assistance (P.A.), Podiatric Medicine Program (D.P.M.), Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and others. The P.A. program and the Doctor of Pharmacy program are 2-year programs which are available at Glendale. The Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Osteopathic Medicine are 4-year programs offered at the Illinois campus.
The Glendale College added a new Dental College to its campus last year. An off-site teaching clinic is also supposed to be established within the university precincts.
