Mississippi University For Women

Mississippi University for Women, also known as MUW, is located in Columbus, Mississippi, United States. It was founded in 1884 and was formerly known as Industrial Institute and College. The university was created by an act of the Mississippi Legislature and was established as the first public women's college in the United States.

MUW offers academic programs in over 50 areas of study. The university is divided into the following academic schools and colleges:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • Culinary Arts Institute

MUW has over 75 student clubs and organizations. Some of them are the International Student Association, American Society of Interior Design, Kappa Delta Epsilon, and Baptist Student Union. The university has a varied international population with students from Venezuela, Kenya, India, Japan, and Vietnam.
