StudentsMississippi Valley State is a historically black college. Student enrollment was 3,009 in 2007-2008 (2,855 full-time equivalent). About 54% of the freshmen class in 2008-2009 was male and women were 46% of the class. Undergrads are 85% of enrolled students and graduate students are 15%. AthleticsSchool sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Southwestern Athletic Conference for major sports. The school offers financial aid for athletes.
