Monmouth College

Monmouth College or MC was established in 1853 as Monmouth Academy. The college was given its present name in 1856 when it received a charter from the legislature. Located in Monmouth, Illinois, the institution is a four-year, private, college of liberal arts. The MC remains affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and is also a member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. The College, one of the rare colleges to be co-educational since inception, housed the women’s sorority movement.

Monmouth College offers a variety of majors, degree programs, and pre-professional fields of study. Some of the subjects offered are Biochemistry, Greek, History, Latin, Psychology and Spanish. The college also offers a military science program and off-campus study programs to students.

Monmouth College, which fields both men’s and women’s sports teams, is a member of the Midwest Conference and also competes in NCAA, division III.
