Overview

Montana State University – Northern or MSU - Northern, a public institution located in Havre, Montana, was established in 1929. A part of the Montana State University system, it was initially known as Northern Montana College. In 1994, the college received its current name and the Montana University System decided to merge the smaller campuses with the two main universities – University of Montana, Missoula and the Montana State University, Bozeman.

MSU – Northern offers a variety of academic programs, including agricultural science and management, engineering technique, mechanics and repair. The institution offers graduate as well as Extended University programs, which are non-traditional academic programs such as Motorcycle Safety, Summer Session and others.

The institution fields both men’s and women’s athletics teams who participate in basketball, rodeo, volleyball and golf. The teams belong to the Frontier Conference and the institution offers athletics financial aid to students who require it.
