Morehouse School of Medicine, located in Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in 1975 as a part of Morehouse College. The first students of the school were admitted in 1978 and it became an independent institution in 1981 and granted 4 year degrees in 1985. The school, also referred to as MSM, offers degrees and programs in anatomy, neurobiology, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, family medicine, pathology, and medical education.
Some of the student organizations of MSM include the Student National Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Pre-alumni Association, the American Medical Student Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. MSM offers financial aid in the form of various scholarships such as the Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students, the State Medical Education Board (SMEB) of Georgia Scholarship, the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, the MSM Merit Scholarship, and the National Health Service Corp (NHSC).
