Overview
Morgan State University was established in 1867 as the Centenary Biblical Institute. It was renamed Morgan College in 1890 after Reverend Lyttleton Morgan. The college became Morgan State College in 1938. It gained university status in 1975 and settled on its current name at that time. It sits upon more than 140 acres in residential Baltimore, Maryland. MSU is made up of the following academic units:

MSU has numerous student clubs and organizations, including Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Caribbean Students Association, National Politcal Science Honor Society, Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Pi Sigma Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, The Pre-Medical Chapter of The American Medical Student Association and Zeta Psi.
MSU competes in the Mideastern Athletic Conference. Its sports teams are known as the Bears and participate in football, lacrosse, basketball, tennis, cross country, track and field, bowling, softball and volleyball.
