Overview

Mount Marty College was established by the Sisters of Saint Benedict in 1936. It was named in honor of the Benedictine missionary, Martin Marty. It was initially a junior college for women, and it became coeducational in the year 1969. The main campus of this private, Roman Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts college is located on 80 acres of land in Yankton, South Dakota. There are additional campuses located in Watertown and Sioux Falls.

Mount Marty College's recent enrollments have been more than 1,000 students from over 25 states and 5 countries worldwide every year. The students can choose from courses in the fields of business and social sciences, teacher education, humanities, natural sciences, and nursing, among others.

Mount Marty College supports a large number of student clubs and organizations including the Ambassadors, Computer Club, Graphic Arts Club, MMC College Republicans, Forensic Science Society, Raising Adam, and Nursing Honor Society. There are also several Greek societies such as the Alpha Phi Sigma, Phi Alpha Theta, Sigma Tau Delta, and Theta Alpha Kappa.
