Overview
Located in northwest Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mount Mary College is a four-year, Catholic, women's college. The school is private and non-profit with a liberal arts base. It was originally established in 1850 as St. Mary's Institute. It was founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. It became St. Mary’s College in 1913 and was the first women's college in the state. It changed to its current name in 1928. The first classes were held in 1929 with 132 students.
Although a Catholic institution, Mount Mary College is open to all faiths. The school is open to men in nursing and programs for post-bachelor studies, certifications, and graduate studies.
The college campus covers approximately 80 acres of land. It records an enrollment of over 1,700 students annually and offers more than 60 undergraduate majors. Mount Mary College is organized into the following academic divisions:

The students of Mount Mary College can get involved with many clubs and organizations. Some of these include the Communication Club, Graphic Design Club, American Society of Interior Designers, Student Occupational Therapy Association, Mount Mary Programming and Activities Council, Philosophy Club, and International Club. Other available activities include: student government, student newspaper, literary publication, academic clubs, honor societies, choirs, and campus ministry.
The school participates in NCAA Division III athletics. Varsity sports include basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, crosscountry, and volleyball.
