Overview
Mount St. Mary's University, established in 1808, is located in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The university, which was established by Father John DuBois, became a co-educational institution in 1972. It was known as the Mount St. Mary's College and Seminary, prior to June 7, 2004. The university, situated on 1,400 acres, offers educational programs in the fields of environmental studies, political science, elementary education, biochemistry, legal studies, and international studies.
The sports teams of the university, nicknamed the Mountaineers, participate in golf, soccer, tennis, cross country, basketball, swimming, and baseball. The students are represented by the Student Government Association. The offices of WMTB 89.9 FM are located on the Mount Saint Mary's University campus. The students are active in the Economics Club, the Campus Ministry Student Organization, the International Students Association, and the Maryland Student Legislature Club.
