Mountain Empire Community College, also referred to as MECC, is located in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, United States. It is among the 23 schools under the Virginia Community College System. The construction of the college began in 1971, and the first classes were held in 1972. The college offers associate degrees in various areas including accounting, management, and paralegal studies. The college also offers distance education programs.

Mountain Empire Community College sponsors a large number of student clubs and organizations. Students are members of associations including Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government Association, Baptist Student Union, Technology Club, and MECC Hearts of Faith. Students of MECC also take part in martial arts.
