Overview

New England School of Acupuncture, also referred to as NESA, was the first school of acupuncture in the US. Located in Newton, Massachusetts, it was founded in 1975 by acupuncturist Dr. James Tin Yau So. In 1976, it was licensed as a vocational school and 4 years later was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation. The school offers certificate courses in acupuncture, as well as a Master's degree in Acupuncture (MAc).

The school offers clinical internships to successful students, which provide an opportunity for hands on experience. The Clinical Assistantship program, which allows students to assist and observe experienced practitioners in the NESA clinic as well as at satellite locations, helps them to gain practical experience before facing the challenges of their own careers.
