Overview
New Jersey City University, also referred to as NJCU, was established in 1929 as New Jersey State Normal School. In 1935, the school changed its name to New Jersey State Teachers College. Later on, it was renamed to Jersey City State College. It gained university status in 1998 and settled on its current name. The university's campus covers more than 24 acres on Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City, New Jersey. NJCU has the following academic units:
