New York University, or NYU, is a private, nonsectarian research university located in New York City. It was established in the year 1831. NYU has been ranked as America's "#1 dream school" for four consecutive years by The Princeton Review. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

NYU has a diverse student population representing over 130 countries. There are over 20 social fraternities and sororities in NYU. The university’s sports teams are nicknamed the Violets, and its official mascot is the bobcat. Its teams participate in various sports, including football, fencing, basketball, cross country, swimming and diving, track and field, and soccer. They also compete in several club and intramural sports.
