Overview

Newberry College, located in Newberry, South Carolina, is liberal-arts college with a campus spanning across more than 90 acres. Newberry College was originally established as a seminary and classical academy intended to train Lutheran ministers in 1829. In 1855, the institution was moved to Newberry, and was given its current name the following year.

Newberry College continues to be associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. It offers more than 20 major, and over 30 minor programs in fields like art, business, church leadership, communications, history, music, nursing and theatre, among others. Dual degree programs are also available.

Newberry offers financial aid to eligible students in the form of grants, scholarships, student loans, and part-time employment opportunities. Some of the scholarships offered include the Enhanced LIFE Scholarship, the Hope Scholarship, and the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship. Newberry College is a member of the South Atlantic Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II. It fields athletic teams in basketball, baseball, cross country, cheerleading, golf, soccer, football, wrestling and volleyball, among others.
