Overview

Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) is a two-year public community college located in the northeastern corner of Mississippi in the United States about 190 miles north of Jackson, Mississippi and 100 miles southeast of Memphis, Tennessee. The school was created in 1948 as Northeast Mississippi Junior College to serve its surrounding counties, including Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union. Today the school also enrolls students from the adjacent Tennessee and Alabama states, as well as other states and counties.

The school offers transfer, career, and technical studies in day, evening, weekend, and online formats. In addition to Northeast's Booneville campus, students can take courses at sites in New Albany, Tishomingo, and Corinth.

Student life at NEMCC includes: the student newspaper, the Beacon; intramural athletics; cheerleading; choir; marching band; and over 25 clubs and organizations serving a variety of interests. The school's intercollegiate athletics include football, baseball, golf, tennis, softball, and basketball. Its teams are known as the Tigers.
