Overview

Northeastern Illinois University, also known as Northeastern or NEIU, is a public, state university located in the North Park community area of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The history of the institution can be traced back to Cook County Normal School (now Chicago State University), established in 1867. After several name and status changes, NEIU was finally granted university status in 1971.

NEIU offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:
