Overview
Northeastern State University, also known as NSU, is a public university located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, United States. It was founded on May 7, 1851, as the Cherokee National Female Seminary. After a few name and status changes, it was finally renamed to Northeastern State University in 1985. Today, NSU is the fourth largest University in Oklahoma.
NSU’s main campus at Tahlequah is spread across an area of 200 acres. The university also has two campuses at Muskogee and Broken Arrow. The university offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. NSU is organized into the following academic divisions:

NSU is home to several campus organizations such as NAB (Northeastern Activities Board), RHA (Residence Halls Association), and NSGA (Northeastern Student Government Association). The university’s official mascot is known as Rowdy the Riverhawk.
