Overview

Northland College is a liberal arts college located in Ashland Wisconsin. It was founded in 1892 as the North Wisconsin Academy, and renamed to its present name in 1906. Northland College's recent enrollments have been more than 700 students and spreads over a 220 acre campus. Northland College offers majors, minors, pre-professional studies, evening degree and dual degree programs in diverse areas of study.

Student Government, Student Publications and Northland Volunteer Program are some of the organizations students are involved with. The athletic teams of Northland college are nicknamed as the LumberJacks and LumberJills. Some of the notable alumni of the college include Jamling Tenzing Norgay, the world-famous mountain climber, Sigurd F. Olson, prominent author and environmentalist; and Stan Gruszynski, former member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.
