Northwest Indian College is located in Bellingham, Washington and is managed by the Lummi tribe of Native Americans. The college was founded as Lummi Indian School of Aquaculture in 1979. It went on to become the Lummi Community College in 1983 and was renamed Northwest Indian College in 1989. The college operates outreach campuses in Nespelem, Auburn, Tulalip, La Conner, Kingston and Olympia, Washington and at Lapwai, Idaho.
Northwest Indian College offers Associate of Arts degrees in Arts and Science, Technical Arts, and Science Transfer. A Bachelor's degree is available in Native Environmental Science. The college also provides certificate programs. Students requiring financial aid can apply for scholarships that are available from the American Indian College Fund. Northwest Indian College also participates in intramural athletics.
