Northwest Mississippi Community College initially began in 1915 as the Tate County Agricultural High School. It was established in the year 1928 as a 2-year public community college in north Mississippi. More than 7,000 combined students are enrolled at the 3 campuses of this college:

  • DeSoto Center in Southaven
  • Lafayette Yalobusha Center in Oxford
  • Senatobia campus

Northwest Mississippi Community College offers associates degrees in arts and applied science and certificate programs in various areas of study. Among the departments of this college are business administration, accountancy, computer information systems, education, art, music, speech and theater, criminal justice, biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.

The college promotes a large number of student organizations and groups like the Campus Green Club, Cosmetology Club, Delta Epsilon Chi, La Societe Francaise, Lambda Beta Society, Les Fauves, Mu Alpha Theta, Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Phi Sigma, Society of Universal Love and the Spanish Club.
