Norwich University

Norwich University (NU), founded in 1819 in Norwich, Vermont as the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy, is a private institution now located in Northfield, Vermont. The school has both a Corps of Cadets (NUCC) and a traditional student population. Norwich is the oldest private military college in the United States.

A few recognitions for the school include: being one of the first institutions to receive the National Security Agency’s designation as a Center of Excellence in Information Security Education; being the first US private college to teach engineering; having the first collegiate military band; and being recognized by the United States Department of Defense as the "Birthplace of ROTC" (Reserve Officers' Training Corps). Also, Norwich notes that it was one of the first schools in the US to admit international students.

The school's athletic teams are known as the Cadets. Teams compete at the NCAA Division III level and are belong in one of four conferences, with most being a part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. There are 11 varsity sports and one club sport at Norwich University. Sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, lacrosse, and others.

Housing and Meals
