Overview

Ohio Valley University, OVU, is a 4-year, private Christian university in Vienna, West Virginia that was chartered in 1958 and officially opened in 1960. OVU, which was given its present name in 2005, is situated on two different campuses totalling more than 250 acres. OVU offers bachelor’s degrees in more than 10 subject areas including bible, accounting, bible & ministry, business administration, English, and history.

Ohio Valley University has social clubs which include Theta, Delta, Sigma, and Kappa. The sports teams of OVU, which are known as the Fighting Scots, are members of the NCAA's Division II, and participate in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

OVU’s publications include Penumbra - the literary magazine of the university, and The Highlander - the student newspaper.
