Ohio Wesleyan University, also referred to as Wesleyan or OWU, is located in Delaware, Ohio, United States. It was established in 1842 as a nonsectarian institution by Central Ohio residents and Methodist leaders. The college is a member of the Ohio Five, a consortium of the liberal arts colleges in Ohio. The campus spreads over an area of 200 acres. After completing 34 units of coursework, students can earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Music degree.
OWU has more than 90 student clubs and organizations. Some of the famous Greek chapters are Sigma Phi Epsilon, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Delta Theta, and Delta Tau Delta. The university's sports teams are nicknamed the Battling Bishops, and they compete in over 20 sports. OWU has a substantial population of international students. In 2006, it accepted 36% of its international student applicants.
