Northwest Florida State College was created in 1963 as Okaloosa-Walton Junior College. It changed its name to Okaloosa-Walton Community College in 1988. It became Okaloosa-Walton College in 2003. The name was change to Northwest Florida State College in June 2008. The main campus of the college sits upon more than 260 acres in Valparaiso, Florida.
NWFSC is organized into several academic divisions. Some of these are the department of computer engineering, business management, humanities, fine and performing arts, nursing and allied health, mathematics and social science. The college also has scholarship programs including the Presidential Honors Scholarship, Fine and Performing Arts Scholarships, Minority Honors Scholarship, Athletic Scholarships, and many more.
NWFSC has many on-campus student clubs and organizations, including the African-American Association, Phi Theta Kappa, Christian Apologetics Fellowship, Gaming Association, Film Club, National Student Nurses' Association and the PRIME TIME Computer Club.
