Pacific Northwest College of Art, in Portland Oregon, is abbreviated as PNCS. Established in 1909 by the Portland Art Museum, it was originally named the Museum Art School, a name it kept until 1980. PNCA, which offers specialized courses in the arts, conveys bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as certificates. Courses offered at PNCA include painting, communication design, fine arts, illustration, photography, and sculpture. Continuing education is also available.
Pacific Northwest College of Art has a vibrant student life, with student participation in associations such as the Student Council, and the Portland chapter of the American Institute for Graphic Arts. In addition, PNCA students have the opportunity to showcase their work at the institute’s galleries.
