Overview

Pitt Community College was founded as an industrial education center by the North Carolina State Board of Education in 1961. It went on to be declared a technical institute in 1964 and was renamed Pitt Technical Institute. The institution was eventually named Pitt Community College in 1979. The college offers several certificate programs, associate degrees and university transfer programs that lead to bachelor's degrees. The various degree programs offered by the college are divided into the following categories:

PCC also offers telecourses, online courses and community based classes. The college's athletic teams are known as Bulldogs.
