Pontifical College Josephinum

Pontifical College Josephinum is a four-year liberal arts college located in Columbus, Ohio and is abbreviated as PCJ. The institute was founded in 1888 by Monsignor Joseph Jessing. Originally, it was named as Collegium Josephinum and the first classes were held on September 1, 1888. The institute was awarded the pontifical college status by Pope Leo XIII in the year 1892. In the same year, the college adopted its present name. It prepares its students to become priests in Roman Catholic Church. The college offers programs in philosophy, theology, history, mathematics, social science, and English composition and literature. Pontifical College Josephinum is organized into the following academic units:

  • College of Liberal Arts
  • School of Theology

Pontifical College Josephinum offers a variety of scholarships. Some of these include the Jessing Scholarship Program, Diocese of Columbus Scholarship, Mildred M. Daniel Memorial Scholarship, and Virgil and Ann Dechant Scholarship.
