Overview
Purdue University is a public university located in West Lafayette, Indiana, United States. It was established on May 6, 1869 as a land-grant university. Purdue offers more than 200 options for major areas of study and a wide variety of options for minors. The main campus is spread across an area of 2,474 acres. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

Purdue University is home to the third largest Greek community in the nation. There are 5,000 students who participate in one of the men’s fraternities or women's sororities. The university's independent, student-run newspaper is called "The Purdue Exponent."
