Overview

Rabbinical Seminary of America, also known as Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yisrael Meir HaKohen, was founded by Rabbi Dovid Leibowitz in 1933. It was named in honor of his great uncle, Rabbi Yisroel Meir Kagan. This Orthodox, Lithuanian-style, Talmudic yeshiva is located in Flushing, in the Queens borough of New York. It also operates a number of branches in New Jersey, New York, and Nevada.

Rabbinical Seminary of America awards bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. Several post-baccalaureate and post-master's certificates, as well as first professional degree courses are also available. These academic programs concentrate on the study of Mussar, Judaism, ethical and Biblical texts, Halakha, and Talmudic sugya methodology.

The student body of Rabbinical Seminary of America is comprised of more than 400 representatives from various states and foreign countries. They are trained to become synagogue rabbis, community leaders, religious instructors, officials, and coordinators. The seminary provides financial assistance to students through Federal grants, and institutional loans.
