Overview

Ranger College, RC, is situated in Ranger, Texas. RC initially opened with 30 students on September 13, 1926. The college, which is situated on 50 acres, offers the Associate of Arts Degree, the Associate of Science Degree, and the Associate of Applied Science Degree in diverse areas of study. Programs are offered in computer information systems, training in business, vocational nursing, cosmetology, and welding.

Ranger College sponsors activities and events such as athletic contests, receptions, dances and movies to provide leisure and recreation for students. RC has baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, softball, and volleyball teams. The football team of RC won the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship in 1978.

Ranger College awards Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grants, Federal Work Study Opportunities, Subsidized Stafford Loans, Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, The Texas Public Education Grant, and Parent Plus Loan to those who are eligible. The college library has a book collection of more than 28,000 volumes.
