Overview

Rhode Island College, also known as RIC, is a coeducational, state-supported, comprehensive college located in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. It was founded in 1854 as the Rhode Island State Normal School. The college is the oldest of the institutions of higher education that operate under the aegis of the Board of Governors for Higher Education. RIC offers more than 90 undergraduate and over 30 graduate programs through the following academic divisions:

  • School of Social Work

There are various student clubs on campus that are governed and funded by Student Community Government, Inc., a semi-autonomous organization. Some of the student clubs at RIC are Anchormen Rugby, Anchorwomen Rugby, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and Latin American Student Organization. RIC has a student-run radio station, 90.7 WXIN, and a college newspaper, the Anchor newspaper.
