Overview
Rhodes College is located in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. It was established in 1848 as a degree-granting institution of the Masonic University of Tennessee. At that time, it was located in Clarksville, Tennessee. In 1850, the name was changed to Montgomery Masonic College. Later on, it was renamed Stewart College in honor of its president, William M. Stewart. The college moved to its present campus in 1925. It was named Southwestern at Memphis in 1945. The college adopted its current name in 1984 and was named after Peyton Nalle Rhodes, one of the college's presidents. The college campus covers approximately 100 acres in Memphis.
Rhodes College has many fraternities and sororities which are governed by the Interfraternity Council, Pan-hellenic Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council. Some of the Greek organizations are Alpha Tau Omega, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Omicron Pi, Kappa Sigma, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Delta Delta, and Sigma Gamma Rho.
