Overview

The Ringling School of Art and Design is a private, four-year school located in Sarasota, Florida. It was founded in 1931by Mayor Bee of the famed Ringling Brothers Circus and Ice Violin, the then President of the Southern School. Originally known as the School of Fine and Applied Art, the name was later changed to Ringling School of Art and Design. The School offers BFA degrees, minors and concentrations in several subjects including computer animation, graphics and interactive communication. The 3D World Magazine rated Ringling the owner of the ‘Best Computer Animation Program’ in North America in 2007.

The Ringling School has an active campus life. Some of the student organizations operating on campus are the Animé Club, the Anthropomorphic Ringling Fan Club, the Chess Club, Epsilon Phi Chi and Sigma Sigma Sigma.
