Overview
River Community College, located in Dublin, Virginia, was established in 1958 as the New River Vocational-Technical School. In 1966, it became a community college under the authority of Virginia Community College System. It was given its current name in 1969.
RVCC awards certificates and diplomas, and associate's degree in arts and science. It also offers online courses. RVCC is one of the very few institutes in Virginia to offer a Video Game Technology program. RVCC is also known across the state for its Computer Aided Design Programs.
The college participates in federal aid programs and also offers scholarships like the Agnes M. Lindsay Trust Scholarship, the Barbara Jean Baker Memorial Scholarship, the College Equals Opportunity Scholarship, and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, among others. RVCC student organizations include the Student Senate, the Alpha Delta Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Falcon Flight, and the Outing Club, among others.
