Overview

Saint Francis University, also known as SFU, is a four-year, coeducational, Catholic, liberal arts university located in Loretto, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in the year 1847. The main campus spreads across an area of 600 acres. The university offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study.

SFU’s campus hosts several clubs and organizations for the overall development of the students. Saint Francis University's athletics department sponsors more than 20 men’s and women’s sports teams. The teams compete in the NCAA's Northeast Conference. Their official mascot is the Red Flash. Some notable alumni of the university are Charles M. Schwab, Industrialist; Maurice Stokes, Basketball player; and Teresa S. Polley, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Financial Accounting Foundation.
