St. Joseph's Seminary and College was established on September 21, 1896; in its first year, the college enrolled 98 students. The cornerstone of the seminary was laid on May 17, 1891 by Archbishop Michael J. Corrigan. However, St. Joseph's traces its history to other seminaries, which were established in Nyack in 1833, Lafargeville in 1838, Fordham in 1840, and to Saint Joseph's Provincial Seminary at Troy, New York in 1864. The college campus is located in Yonkers, New York. It gives bachelor's and master's degrees in divinity and sacred theology.
Some of the notable faculties of St. Joseph's Seminary and College include Sister Sara Butler, who was appointed to International Theological Commission in 2004, and Monsignor Michael F. Hull, the author of Baptism on the Account of the Dead.
